ARTeFACTo 2026 — Travel & Access Guide
- From Lisbon Airport (LIS)
Express Coach (~2h 15m): Direct buses run from Lisbon (Sete Rios Coach Terminal or Lisbon Airport) to Beja Bus Terminal via Rede Expressos (rede-expressos.pt) or FlixBus (flixbus.pt).
To reach Sete Rios from the airport, take the Metro Red Line to São Sebastião, transfer to the Blue Line to Jardim Zoológico, or take a 10-minute taxi or Uber or Bolt.
By Train (CP — Comboios de Portugal, ~2h 30m): Take the Metro Red Line directly to Gare do Oriente (3 stops, 6 minutes). Board the Intercidades train towards Évora, transfer at Casa Branca station to the connecting regional train to Beja (tickets at cp.pt).
- From Faro Airport (FAO)
Express Coach (~2h 30m): Direct express coaches run daily from Faro Airport or from Faro Central Bus Terminal (Terminal Rodoviário) to Beja via Rede Expressos (rede-expressos.pt) or FlixBus (flixbus.pt).
To reach Faro Central Bus Terminal (Terminal Rodoviário) take local bus Line 16 (Próximo) or a 10-minute taxi (Uber or Bolt) from the airport to the Faro Central Bus Terminal (Terminal Rodoviário).
Note: There is no direct train between Faro and Beja; coaches are significantly faster.
- From Porto Airport (OPO)
Train via Lisbon (~5h 30m total): Take Metro Line E from Porto Airport to Porto-Campanhã station (~35 min). Board the high-speed Alfa Pendular or Intercidades train to Lisboa-Oriente (~3h). From Lisboa-Oriente, take a direct coach or train to Beja.
Long-Distance Coach: Direct and one-transfer coaches (Rede Expressos / FlixBus) operate between Porto and Beja (journey time: ~6h to 7h30m).
- Arrival in Beja & Taxi Service
Central de Táxis de Beja (24/7 Service): +351 284 322 474 (or 284 322 474 locally). Additional mobile contacts: +351 962 754 120 / +351 962 767 132.
Getting to Campus: Taxis are stationed directly outside Beja Bus Terminal and the Railway Station. A taxi ride to the IPBeja campus takes about 5 to 7 minutes (approx. €4.00 – €7.00). Walking takes around 20 minutes.
- Important Note: Ridesharing applications (Uber and Bolt) have very limited or no coverage in Beja; calling a local taxi is the most dependable option.
