ARTeFACTo 2026 BEJA \u2013 5th International Conference on Digital Creation in Arts, Media and Technology – Expanded (A)udiovisual (I)ntelligence<\/strong>, has the format of a conference with technical sessions, invited talks, discussion panels, and exhibition areas for installations and artworks. Contributions can be in the form of full papers, short papers and proposals for posters and art installations\/artworks. Authors are invited to submit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 A full paper of six to ten pages for oral presentation;
\u2022 A short paper up to four pages for posters or the conceptual and technical information concerning art installations, digital and media artworks\u2019 proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For artwork submissions, please provide a short paper and a detailed, descriptive video in HD MP4 format, up to 4 minutes long (with optional English subtitles). Alongside the article, a permanent link (optionally private) to the descriptive video must be submitted. The conference will feature a hybrid exhibition of artworks (onsite and virtual).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submissions are accepted in the conference’s official languages: English<\/strong> and Portuguese<\/strong>. If your paper is in Portuguese, please prepare an English version of the title, abstract and keywords, as these is required by Springer Nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTeFACTo uses a double blind reviewing process<\/strong>. As such, submitted papers should not have author and institutional identification in the title and header areas, nor in the body of the paper.
\u2018Explicit self-references should be avoided; instead, authors citing their own prior work should discuss it in the third person (\u201cPrevious work by <Author> [X1]\u2026\u201d instead of \u201cIn our previous work [X1]\u2026\u201d). Authors should also avoid mentioning the names of institutions where the work was done (\u201cparticipants were recruited from the university campus\u201d, instead of \u201cparticipants were recruited from the <Institution name>\u201d). Authors should also avoid clear identification marks of their affiliation in figures and supplementary material and remove metadata from submission files.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the text, made anonymous, for each paper, separate identification info must be provided at Easy Chair, containing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Name, organisation, mailing and e-mail addresses of each author
\u2022 Name of the contact author
\u2022 A list of keywords<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guidelines and Templates<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ARTeFACTo 2026 is negotiating with Springer Nature<\/strong> to publish a Book in the “Numanities<\/strong><\/em>” series, with the articles selected in the conference. This process will follow the Springer submission workflow, and all authors will be contacted and instructed after the conference. For the conference book of abstracts, we will use the ACM templates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Word template<\/strong> (single-column) is available here<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. Follow the embedded instructions to apply the paragraph styles to your various text elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LaTeX template<\/strong> is available here<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. Use the option \u201cmanuscript<\/strong>\u201d with \\documentclass[manuscript]{acmart}<\/strong> command to create a single-column format. Please review the LaTeX documentation and ACM\u2019s LaTeX best practices guide, should you have any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photos, colour pictures or graphics must be inserted only in two pages (full paper) or one page (short paper).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceedings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Papers selected in the conference are planned for publication by Springer Natur<\/strong>e and indexed in Scopus. Approval for publication is currently under assessment by Springer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A selection of the best papers will be proposed for publication in appropriate scientific journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Submission of a paper implies the intention of at least one of the authors to register and attend the conference in order to perform a spoken presentation. Papers accepted and presented at the symposium by one of the authors will appear in the conference proceedings. The final versions of the accepted papers should be submitted with the authors’ names and institutions (there\u2019s no need for further blind review).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibition <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Artefacts accepted for exhibition will be curated for both physical and virtual exhibitions,<\/strong> while authors will be invited to submit a short paper describing their artefacts for inclusion in the conference book of abstracts and a full paper after the conference, subject to Springer’s publication standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that the conference primarily uses a face-to-face participation model, so remote presentations of papers or artworks will be permitted only in extraordinary circumstances.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
